Insulating a home creates an atmosphere that provides comfort. Due to constant change in weather conditions outside temperature causes discomfort even with Air Condition. Insulating home not only works as a barrier for outside weather condition but also it saves electricity bill. Different types of insulations are;-

-          Attic Insulation

-          Wall Insulation

-        Basement Insulation

Studies show that the glass particles slow down the spreading of heat or cold flow, even sound, and reduces the residential energy costs by approximately up to 40%. There are different kinds of Insulation material available. Fiberglass is one of the materials commonly used in Attic and other spaces in homes. Before selecting the type of insulation, it is advisable to consult with specialist.

Fiberglass material is most commonly used for insulation. Fiberglass is made of plastic particles and fine glass particles. Fiberglass Insulation is effective that maintains the temperature inside the home. It acts as a barrier against outside temperature fluctuation. Fiberglass is available in 2 types.

- Batts and Rolls

- Loose fills

Batts and Rolls used in flat surfaces including the wall, for soundproofing.

Loose fills are used in non-flat surfaces or spaces were hard to reach. Like Attic, corners of home. Loose fills settle down on any surface. A loose filling can be done in 2 ways viz., Blown-in, and DIY. Blown-in fiberglass insulation is the easiest and safest way to install insulation. Because Blown-in Insulation is done by professionals. Whereas DIY could be the cheapest way to install insulation, but it may end in causing health problems.

Efficiency of insulation is determined by term called R-Value. The density of the material gives an idea of the thermal resistance of R-value. More R-Value means more the better is Insulation. Blown-in fiberglass insulation comprise the range of R-value between 2.2 to 2.7 per inch, while the batts and roles go up to 4.3 per inch because of its density.

Since 1938 fiberglass insulation proved to be leading insulation material for residential and commercial structures. Fiberglass insulation has been essential for quite long time with the ability of making buildings energy efficient and comfortable. Advantages of Fiberglass Insulation are:-

-          One of main advantage of fiberglass insulation is cheaper than any other materials. R-Value of fiberglass is most affordable than other materials.

-          Fiberglass materials is non-flammable because it is made out of sand and recycled glass. Even if it is under direct contact with fire, if will melt, won’t burn.

-          Fiberglass Insulation acts as restraints against molds, fiberglass soaks up all the moistures from surface, which results in clean and non mold surface.

-          Being mold resistant improves.

If insulating space is filled with old contaminated insulation, it must be removed before installing new insulation. For this matter insulation removal must be done by specialists. Because old insulation could be harmful to health. So it’s advisable to leave it on specialists.
